Bikepacking the NCT in the LP of MI

After Lumbo I was feeling another westward journey and put in a good three weeks of work/taper on the power monkey prepping for the Breck100. In the back of my mind I also had this urge to return to some loaded touring and thought in lieu of an entry fee, I could drive the additional distance and give the Dixie Lite route a roll. Fueled by an ADD rush of exploratory research and constant weather watching I decided to bail on Breck, ditch the Dixie and head to the North Country, Trail that is.

The reality is, it took two back to back weekends to clear the route, six days in total.

The slideshow paints a better picture than I have time for words right now. There are 244 photos in there, so be patient. The previous post has a map of the route. If you're interested in touring this route and need more info, want gps tracks, etc., please leave a comment and I'll get in touch with you. Enjoy.

The final totals for this cleaned up track are:

332 Miles
28378' Climbing (gps screen read always seems a bit off?)

You are a part of a small group of riders who have done the entire northern lower michigan NCT route.

I recognize all the photos in the slide show!

I'm so glad I found your blog. I road the HCP (High Country Pathway) last year and found the NCT while looking for another bike packing route in Michigan. Purchased maps and communicated with a few people on Facebook. Interested in riding the Fife Lake to 56th St. Trail head....https://www.dropbox.com/s/lhr4t8oy6j250pl/NCT.pages.pdf?dl=0. I've since found the trail to the north is also rideable. Any suggestions? Do you have a .gpx file you can share. THANKS!
